Sandra's consultant was on holiday today so she didn't have to go into work. Instead we took advantage of another sunny day and took a trip to the Ayrshire coast. This is the seafront in Largs. A place worth visiting if only for its wonderfully viking name. While there we visited the 'Vikingar' museum and went on a tour. Depsite being the only two people on the tour, the dark haired, short viking guide went through her performance with commendable enthusiasm. It was quite good fun really. I even got to wear a viking helmet.

At the end of the tour was a twenty minute film which described how the vikings settled down as farmers and averted bloodshed by giving the Norwegian king a brooch. Not quite the bloodthirsty tale of fighting, drinking and pillaging I was expecting...
